2017: The Year of Better Brand Design

The new year always gives us a reason to start afresh, reflecting on what passed. The what worked and what didn’t work, and what is next.

One of the hardest challenges in 2016 was to educate prospective clients on the importance of branding. Some startups do not see branding as a necessity. Branding is usually shelved for their next phase.

They do not see the importance of how branding, if placed as a priority, will determine their next phase. They find it hard to grasp the concept of how branding works for them. As long as they have a service or product, a website to market it is all they want.

Brand design communicates your company’s message through visual representation. It also determines the lasting impression of your company. A good brand design commands the consistency in all things related to the company.

Consistency in the usage of colours, fonts, and layout play a huge part in brand recognition. In the fast-paced social media world, you don’t have much time to make an impact. Your brand will stand out when your visuals and designs are consistent.

As brand designers, we usually put into practice when working on our clients’ businesses. We tend to neglect our own. We realise that for us to educate, we have to emulate the good attributes we preach.

So this year, we will work on improving our own brand design.
